THE Princess Royal is to visit Doncaster Racecourse to host a charity race day on Friday.

Organised as part of the two-day Racing Post Trophy, the Princess will host a luncheon and charity auction to help raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association, of which she is patron, and the Hospital Heartbeat Appeal, who will use the money raised to buy new equipment for the Cardio Respiratory Department of Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

At 2.30pm she will present the trophy to the winning owner of the first race.

The Princess officially reopened Doncaster Racecourse in August 2007 following a 34m facelift. Mark Spincer, managing director of Doncaster Racecourse, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming HRH The Princess Royal back to Doncaster Racecourse for an afternoon of top-class racing.

“Doncaster continues to develop and improve its racing experience for visitors and I hope that the Princess Royal will see a difference since she was last here.

“All the proceeds from the luncheon will go to two very worthwhile charities. In addition the Racing Post has committed to donate all proceeds from the paper sold on that day to the charities, which will help immensely.”
