£1m auction attracts major interest

An auction in Grimsby involving over £1m worth of machinery and equipment is attracting international interest.

The online auction features the huge stores and some pre-used equipment from the Huntsman Group’s closed Grimsby site.

Production at the Moody Lane plant ceased in 2009, with the loss of 200 jobs. Remediation work and clearance is now underway on the 120-acre site ahead of redevelopment.

Paul Cooper, of Scunthorpe-based industrial auctioneers CJM Asset Management, said: “This plant was one of the largest producers of titanium dioxide pigment – used in paint and plastics – in Europe.

“It was a round the clock process, so machinery and equipment had to be of the highest quality and the stores needed to be able to replace anything that failed immediately.”

Viewing is by appointment on August 16. The auction, which is on BidSpotter, is scheduled to close at noon on Thursday August 18.

In total the auction extends to over 700 lots.
