£250,000 for radiology unit

A NEW children's radiology unit at Leeds General Infirmary has received a donation of £250,000.

The windfall has been given by the Yorkshire region of the Variety Club Children's Charity, which included a contribution of 125,000 from Leeds entrepreneur, Leslie Silver, and his wife Sheila, who are long-time supporters.

Until now, children from all over Yorkshire requiring radiographic examination had to use facilities at both Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and St James's and often had to travel between the two hospitals.

The new unit is part of a move currently under way to centralise all children's services at the LGI, to create the new Leeds Children's Hospital.
