Public invited as NHS trust’s board to meet

BOSSES at the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are now inviting members of the public to observe their board meetings.

The move comes after the Government’s Health and Social Care Bill, which passed its final hurdle in Parliament in March, said all Foundation Trusts should hold their board meetings in public.

Trust chairman Tony Pedder said: “We have taken the decision to hold our board meetings in public so that the people we serve can observe how this very large organisation is run, and how decisions are made, to ensure we continue to provide the best possible care and continue to be at the forefront of clinical research.”

The first meeting to be held in public will take place next Wednesday at 9am, in the Medical Education Centre at the Northern General Hospital.

It is expected to have finished by 11.15am.
