Public views sought on regeneration

Residents and business owners in Featherstone are being invited by Wakefield Council to share their views and thoughts on the plans for regeneration of the area.

A drop-in event will be held on Wednesday July 14, from 4pm at the Chesney's Centre. Representatives of the council, its partners and members of the Featherstone Steering Group will be on hand to talk through projects brought forward under the Featherstone regeneration programme and seek opinions from the public.

The event will also allow local people to find out about and comment on proposals which others are bringing forward in the area.

People will also be able to hear more about the progress of the town's regeneration and to share the ideas and ambitions for its future.

The chairman of the Featherstone Steering Group, Coun Kay Binnersley, said: "We are keen to hear from the public and their ideas for the future regeneration of the town, subject to resources becoming available, and it provides an opportunity for local residents and business owners to suggest ways in which we can improve project work in the area."

The projects include the Nine Lakes scheme, a huge country park and housing developments.
