Pudding recipe given a twist for television

Cooking enthusiast and food blogger Christopher Blackburn hopes to strengthen Yorkshire’s place on the culinary map with his own recipe for a Tyke treat.

He will show his award-winning Yorkshire pudding recipe on ITV’s new food programme Food Glorious Food.

The programme – which was recorded in Harrogate – starts next Wednesday at 8pm.

Christopher’s recipe includes a never-before-seen twist on the UK classic, and provides him with the opportunity to go head-to-head with other chefs.

He said: “I love the idea of putting Yorkshire and Yorkshire pudding on the national stage. It was exciting to prepare my favourite dish for famous celebrities, but it’s the exposure of the dish itself and of the region I am from for which I am most pleased about.”

Learning and development manager Christopher won a Yorkshire pudding competition run by the Dean Clough Cookery School in Halifax two years running.

Shortly after his first win, he started a blog – www.YorkshirePudd.co.uk– which has been nominated for a best food blog award. He also hopes to develop cookery products.

Expert judges will scour the country for the best-loved recipe – which will be stocked by Marks & Spencer and earn the winner £20,000 cash.
