Pupils' work to go on display in Italy

TEENAGERS who impressed UN bosses after travelling to Geneva to give a presentation on child slavery are to have their project put on permanent display at the International Children’s Museum in Italy.

Pupils of Caedmon School, Whitby, make the trip each year because of a connection to the organisers. This year four year nine students travelled to Switzerland after an internal selection contest.

They were invited to make a presentation to the International Labour Organisation and produce a display about the issue.

UN officials were so impressed that they have now asked for the work to become a permanent display at the Turin museum.

Former Caedmon deputy head Duncan Taylor, who is now educational director of the Kids Task Force charity and who set up the pupils’ visits, said: “These are 14-year-old kids standing up in front of a large audience from the UN.”
