For the first time questions received from members of the public will be answered at the next committee meeting on October 8. Chairman of the authority Coun Mark Burns-Williamson said it scrutinised the work of the force, set its budgets and monitored activities on behalf of the public. “This is a chance for people to ask questions about the work we carry out and also raise any issues or concerns,” he said.

“We do not answer any questions around operational policing as this is under the control of the chief constable.”

Anyone who submits a question will be given the chance to attend the meeting and ask it in person.

If they are unable to or do not want to attend an answer will be sent following the meeting. Deadline for questions is October 1.

Anyone wanting to submit a question can contact West Yorkshire Police Authority, Ploughland House, 62 George St, Wakefield; call 01924 294006 or email [email protected]
