Raider hits man with rounders bat

A MAN was hit with a rounders bat during an attempted robbery at a Bradford cricket club.

The incident which took place just after 12am on Sunday at the Undercliffe Cricket Club in Intake Road when a 37-year-old member of staff was confronted by a man outside the club premises and threatened with a wooden rounders bat.

He demanded the staff member reopened the club and then assaulted him with the bat when he refused.

Both men then struggled before the offender gave up and fled down Intake Road over the cricket club wall into the cricket ground. The victim suffered a cut to his right hand and bruising to his body.

Det Insp John Priestley said: “Any attack of this type particularly where a weapon is used can potentially lead to serious injuries and we would like to appeal for any witnesses who were about in Intake Road at this time or may have any information in relation to the identity of the offender.”

The offender is described as white, 6ft and stocky. He was wearing a balaclava.
