Rail station gets new police offices

A REPLACEMENT police station has been opened at Leeds Railway Station.

The new station, which is on Station Approach outside the station’s main entrance, has been built to replace the existing, out-dated, facility previously located inside the railway station.

It operates 24 hours a day and houses over 53 officers including the local Neighbourhood Policing Team and CID.

Terry Nicholson, British Transport Police (BTP) North Eastern Area Commander added: “The new station at Leeds will provide our officers and customers with a first class facility that will enable us to provide a better service to the travelling community and our partners in the rail industry.”

“This is the first time we have all Leeds based teams as a central hub under one roof.”

Mr Nicholson said yesterday that the new station boasted “fantastic” facilities including: “a specialist suite for interviewing vulnerable victims, a reception and counter service to members of the public, briefing and conference rooms and plenty of space for all the teams of officers who will be working there”.
