Recovery of £2m haul hailed

Two Chinese artefacts worth more than £2m stolen in a museum break-in were recovered thanks to “excellent” police work, a chief constable has said.

A jade bowl and porcelain figurine were taken from Durham University’s Oriental Museum at about 10pm on April 5, after thieves chiselled through a wall, climbed through the hall and made straight for two cabinets in the dark.

The Qing dynasty artefacts were recovered in Brandon, Durham.

Detectives still want to trace Lee Wildman, also known as Jason Green, 35, and Adrian Stanton, 32, both from Walsall, West Midlands.
