Residents offered window on healthcare

PEOPLE in Sheffield have been invited to find out more about local healthcare at NHS Sheffield’s annual general meeting, to be held in the city on Monday, September 6.

The meeting will give members of the public a chance to hear about what the organisation has been doing in the past year to improve the health of people in Sheffield.

Jan Sobieraj, chief executive of NHS Sheffield, said: “We have made excellent progress in the last year in ensuring that we continue to improve services and reduce health inequalities for local people, with particular improvements in making services more accessible for patients and improving safety.

“We are proud of the fact that local people have continued to play a crucial role in helping to shape services in the city.

“We now face a new structure for commissioning being introduced in the months ahead.

“While we will still be around until 2013, we will be working in the meantime with our health and social care partners across the city to ensure a smooth transition and that new arrangements build on the successes and make the city's health and care services even better for Sheffield people.”

There will be a chance for attendees to ask questions, view information stands and meet with NHS staff and managers.

All questions intended to be asked at the meeting should be submitted to NHS Sheffield in advance.
