Retirement village plan for ex-school
Manor Lodge School on Manor Lane, close to City Road, would become a complex featuring 24 retirement bungalows under plans submitted to Sheffield planners.
The school was built in 1876, among a number opened in the city for the Sheffield School Board.

David Cross, of architects Coda Studios, said: “Our aim here is to retain the original character of the site but at the same time create a development that will appeal to the over 55s.
“It will be a sensitive and charming development with all the features you would expect, including full CCTV and security, a focus on complete disabled access and a strong eco-friendly design.
“These are the sort of properties that would allow older people to retain a sense of complete independence while at the same time knowing they are living somewhere safe and affordable.”
