Revised plans for wind turbine to be approved

REVISED plans to build a wind turbine near the village where the Archbishop of York has his official residence are due to be approved after initial designs were blocked.

The original proposals for the 58ft turbine at Springfield Farm on Appleton Road near Bishopthorpe were refused by York Council as the location is on green belt land.

But the application is due to be approved on Thursday next week as planning officers claim the revised plans show environmental benefits outweigh the impact on the green belt. Bishopthorpe Palace, Dr John Sentamu’s official residence, is located in the village.
