Road damaged by floods may be
shut for weeks

repair work to a rural road in North Yorkshire badly damaged in last month’s floods may take around two months to complete.

Part of the C92 between Linton-on-Ouse and Newton-on-Ouse collapsed when the Ouse burst its banks and poured into a culvert, taking some of the road with it.

North Yorkshire County Council has begun repairs and is aiming to complete the work before Christmas. A few other routes still remain closed following the floods, including Newton Road, Great Ayton.

The council has said the flooding will cost taxpayers an estimated £3m to repair roads and bridges.
