Robbers grab £3,000 takings from shop boss

The manager of a newsagent’s shop in Birstall, near Leeds, was robbed of over £3,000 by raiders as she went to bank takings.

As the victim crossed the junction of Nelson Street and High Street a man carrying what is believed to have be a handgun demanded the manager’s bag but she refused. During a struggle she was struck on the head, causing her minor injuries.

She went to a shop for help but as she did another man approached her and stole over £3,000.

The robbery happened at 10am as the manager left the shop on Tuesday to bank the weekend takings at Birstall Post Office.
