Det Insp Stuart Lyons, from Bradford District CID, said: “The incident occurred around 2.10pm as a red Ford Focus vehicle was carrying cash to a local business and driving down Eldon Place away from Manningham Lane.

“At this point a silver Citroen Berlingo vehicle, which had been parked on Eldon Place, drove at speed towards the Ford Focus and collided with the car bringing both vehicles to a standstill.

“Two suspects, who were both wearing dark coloured balaclavas or face covers and carrying axes, threatened the two male occupants of the Focus making demands for the cash.”

Police said the suspects, both described as Asian men, stole a “significant” amount of cash before fleeing the scene in the Citroen Berlingo, found abandoned on Newport Place.

The victims were uninjured but shocked. Call police on 101.
