A rum do... and a tonic for job hunters

A TOTAL of 35 jobs are set to be created with the opening of a new rum-themed bar and restaurant in Sheffield city centre.

Revolucion de Cuba, which opens on Friday in the former Bia Hoi bar on Mappin Street, is a new venture from the organisation behind the Revolution chain of vodka bars.

Said to be inspired by the 1930s bars of Havana, the Sheffield branch will be the first Revolucion de Cuba bar in the country.

General manager James Whitlam said: “To be the first Revolution bar in the UK to be introducing the new Rum Club concept is a major coup for Sheffield.

“As well as creating 35 new jobs locally within the bar and hospitality sector, we feel that a dedicated rum bar will prove a big hit with customers in Sheffield, particularly given the global popularity of this fashionable spirit.

“The birth of Revolucion de Cuba in Sheffield is an exciting time for the company, as we look to build on the success experienced by our other city centre bar venue on Fitzwilliam Street.”

The bar, which serves more than 50 varieties of rum, has a Latin American-themed menu and will also be featuring live music and salsa.
