Sabotage village shows 'true grit't o win award in Bloom contest
Residents of Cayton, near Scarborough, thought their chances in the contest were scuppered after a potent, banned weedkiller was sprinkled on their floral displays in May.
But the Cayton in Bloom group refused to accept defeat and now their green fingered efforts have been rewarded in a silver award in the competition, which also saw Scarborough triumph with a gold award.

"The village is to be congratulated for the marvellous efforts which its local Bloom group, working in partnership with Scarborough Council and a host of sponsors and other well-wishers, have made to overcome the problems."
