Santas stay fit with fun run

The festive season got off to an early start in Skipton as scores of Santas pounded the pavements of the market town yesterday.

Skipton's first Santa Fun Run was organised by The Rotary Club of Skipton Craven to support a number of charities, including Martin House children's hospice and the British Heart Foundation.

Runners, joggers and walkers young and old and of any ability were encouraged to take part in the inaugural event, with families and members of the community also urged to enter a team.

Those taking part provided plenty of festive colour, having been given a free Santa suit, hat and beard to wear while navigating the circular 5km route around the town, which they were able to keep, together with a commemorative medal on completion of the event.
