Schoolboy aims to trump the best

He is only nine, but Leeds schoolboy Kai Whittaker may be a national champion on Saturday.

The youngster is aiming to be top of the class in a UK tournament of the popular schoolyard card game Top Trumps after emerging as one of only 72 children from more than 100,000 to win through to the final of a competition to find the country’s top Top Trumper.

Kai, who attends Cobden Primary School in Wortley, Leeds spent a few moments yesterday being photographed in action ahead of the big day.

The final is due to take place at London’s Science Museum. The winner gets a trophy, £1,000 for their school and an educational school trip for the winner and his classmates.
