Schwarzenegger pancakes add extra muscle to fundraising recipe book

Former bodybuilding champion and retiring California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed his sweet tooth for a Yorkshire cookbook.

The actor and politician sent a recipe for Kaiserschmarrn, an oven-baked pancake popular in his native Austria, for a cookbook compiled in Leeds.

Daniella Wainwright, 29, from Horsforth, Leeds, received dozens of recipes from celebrities after she and colleagues sent out about 500 email requests.

She was part of a nine-strong team from marketing service firm Communisis who produced the book as part of the Million Makers Challenge to help raise at least 10,000 for the Prince's Trust.

She said: "We just couldn't believe it when Arnie replied.

"We didn't think we had a chance but then again if you don't try then you don't know."

The team managed to collect 63 celebrity recipes –including a fish pie from Sir David Jason, and recipes from Prime Minister David Cameron and former boxer Frank Bruno.

Students from Thomas Danby College in Leeds followed each recipe to ensure the end results were edible.

The book is available in Waterstones, Waitrose and Harvey Nichols.
