Scooter rider remains in hospital after collision with unidentified car in Barnsley

Police are seeking the driver of car which failed to stop after colliding with a scooter in Barnsley earlier this week.

The car, thought to be a red or burgundy Rover 25, collided with the scooter in Highstone Lane, Worsbrough, at around 6.25pm on Wednesday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman today said: "The rider of the scooter suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

"The car is reported to have driven off from the scene and officers are keen to trace this vehicle.

"It is believed the car, which may be a red/burgundy Rover 25, may have significant damage and will be missing parts of the front bumper. "

Anyone who saw the collision or has seen a car matching the description is being urged to contact investigators.
