Scotland Yard names and shames over 60 involved in riots summer riots

Scotland Yard has published the details of 66 people convicted of offences including violent disorder, burglary and handling stolen goods who have been jailed for a total of 95 years.

Included within the collection is the longest jail sentence handed down to date in relation to offences that took place in London.

Ryan Kichenside, 18, of, South Norwood, south London, became notorious when a film of him pulling a man from his scooter was posted on YouTube, according to a Scotland Yard spokesman.

The teenager has been sentenced to five years and 10 months for violent disorder, robbery and two counts of burglary.

The court was told Kichenside was seen taking part in the disorder in London Road, West Croydon, on August 8.

He was seen throwing rocks and other objects at the police cordon.

Later, a member of the public recorded video footage that showed a man riding a scooter through a large crowd of youths.

Kichenside chased after the scooter rider and grabbed him in a headlock, dragging him off the vehicle and fracturing the victim’s ankle.

He was also the instigator in two attacks on shops which were both the subject of mass looting.

Images of the 66 are being published on the force’s Flickr page in support of continuing efforts by officers in its Operation Withern to identify, arrest and prosecute those involved in the disorder seen across London in August.

The update follows the release of more than 200 images of outstanding suspects last week, and arrest of 77 individuals following a series of co-ordinated raids across the capital yesterday.

Four months on from the disorder, the Met has made 3,423 arrests for a variety of offences and 2,179 people have been charged or summonsed.
