Search for hospital chairman with drive

HOSPITAL chiefs in Sheffield are seeking an “exceptional” chairman to replace David Stone, who is set to leave his post at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust after a decade in the role.

The hospital trust, which is the largest foundation trust in England, runs five hospitals in Sheffield as well as a range of community services.

Health bosses say they are looking to hear from people with a “successful record of senior level experience in the private, public or voluntary sector” and “board skills gained in major complex organisations”.

A spokesman for the Trust said: “As chairman of one of the largest groups of NHS hospitals, he or she will need to be able to demonstrate strategic vision and a portfolio of skills including governance, financial acumen, performance management, relationship building and inspirational leadership.”

Sir Andrew Cash, chief executive of the hospital trust, added: “We have been incredibly fortunate to have had an exceptional chairman in David Stone for the last 10 years.

“We are now looking for someone to take David’s legacy forward with the same passion and drive and to inspire our staff and partners to continue to deliver the very best we can for our patients and their relatives.

“This is a very exciting but challenging time to join Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and we are looking for an exceptional leader who can fill this key role.”
