Senior nurse is honoured for services

Prof Hilary Chapman, chief nurse and chief operating officer at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has worked at local, regional and national level after beginning her career as a nurse at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital. She has been recognised for her services to nursing.

She is now one of the most prominent chief nurses in the NHS, taking up her role in Sheffield in 2006.

She said: “I am delighted to receive such an honour.

“My career in the NHS over the last 30 years has enabled me to work alongside some extremely talented and dedicated people and it is a privilege to be involved in delivering and shaping health services for Sheffield and the NHS nationally.”

Chris Sharratt, 60, who retired from his post as chief executive of Sheffield Children’s NHS Founation Trust in June, receives an OBE for services to child health.

Looking back on his work at the trust after a 40-year career in the NHS, Mr Sharratt, who lives in Sheffield, said working at the hospital was the highlight of his career, describing the organisation as a “one-off”.

“It really is a special place filled with staff and patients who bring hope and inspiration to families from across the country,” he said.
