Seriously injured man found lying in Sheffield street

Police are investigating how a man found lying in a Sheffield street came to have face and head injuries.

The 41-year-old was reportedly found in Westwood Road, High Green, at around 12.40am on Saturday.

South Yorkshire Police today said it was believed he had been socialising in the Queens Head pub in Wortley Road a short time earlier.

A spokesman said the man had been taken to the Hallamshire hospital with serious injuries.

As enquiries continue, officers are keen to speak to anyone who have have seen what happened or who was in the area around that time.
