Detective Constable Rachel Morton, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Smith took advantage of two vulnerable girls, subjecting them to numerous ordeals over a period of time.

“The investigation, launched in 2014, revealed the vile nature of Smith’s abuse and I would like to praise the two victims in coming forward to tell us what happened to them.

“They have been exceptionally brave and composed throughout this entire process and without their courage to come forward, Smith would not have been brought to justice today.”

Anyone with any concerns regarding sexual abuse should call police on 101 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
