'A shining example': Woman reported missing writes heartfelt letter of thanks to South Yorkshire officers who found her

A woman who was reported missing has written a letter praising the 'exceptional' care shown by the South Yorkshire officers who found her.

Police in Barnsley began a missing persons search at the end of March after concerns were reported for the welfare of the local woman

Officers John Partridge, Mike Senior and Neil Dixon began to gather details of her last known whereabouts in order to begin looking for her.

After a short search, the woman was found by the officers who made sure she was safe and receiving the care needed.

In a letter of thanks to the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police, the woman wrote: “I feel compelled to write to you to express my extreme gratitude for the way in which your three officers have helped me recently.

“PC Partridge and PC Senior found me in a weak and vulnerable state and treated me with the utmost respect at all times during a very long wait in Barnsley A&E. They tended to my every need and basically gave me guidance and counselling in a very non-judgemental way. Later at 7am when PC Dixon took over he too acted in the same way.

“I have always had the utmost of respect for police but the level of care shown was for me exceptional and for that I am, and always will be grateful.

“I would be so grateful if someone could thank them personally and give them the praise and recognition they truly deserve. They are a shining example to your force, and modest with it. I won’t ever forget them.”

The Chief Constable has since thanked the officers personally for their actions and commitment.

Barnsley Superintendent Scott Green added: “This letter demonstrates the dedication and commitment of officers who have gone above and beyond in their role to provide care and support to a member of the public who needed our help.

“Their actions are a fitting example of all the officers within the force who have the needs of the communities we serve at the forefront of the work we do day in and day out to protect and keep them safe.

“I am proud to work among these officers and I hope upon receiving this letter they can see the gratitude members of the public have for the work they do.”
