Shooting estate is no-go area for probation

PROBATION officials have been ordered not to carry out visits on a housing estate which is at the centre of a shooting inquiry.

South Yorkshire Probation Trust said it had told its officers not to go onto Sheffield’s Parson Cross estate following the incident earlier this month.

The deputy chief executive of the trust, Lynda Marginson, said: “After the recent events at Parson Cross, the head of Sheffield Probation took the decision to suspend home visits pending a review of procedures.

“The review was to ensure sufficient safety measures were in place, as we have a duty of care to our employees.”

Police said there were a number of people, including children, in the property on Adlington Road which was fired at on Saturday, October 6, but all were unharmed.
