Shots fired in two separate incidents

shots were fired in incidents in Bradford over the weekend, police said.

Last night police said nobody was injured in either shooting but any firearm incident in the city was always treated seriously. The incidents were not thought to be linked.

The first was at 1am on Saturday when a shot was fired at the front window of a terrace house in Clayton Road.

Police said nobody was injured and the suspect was believed to have made off on foot towards the city centre. A 30-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the incident and remained in custody yesterday.

The second incident happened at the Worldwide Cash and Carry, on Great Horton Road, at 6.45pm on Saturday. As raiders left the premises with an amount of cash they fired at the ceiling.

The two robbers, both thought to be Asian men, threatened two members of staff with what is believed to be a shotgun.

“As the suspects left the shop with an amount of cash they discharged the firearm into the ceiling,” a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said last night.

The suspects are believed to have left the area in a maroon Toyota 4x4 vehicle, which was thought to have been driven by an accomplice.

It was later found burnt out, near Scholemoor Cemetery.

Det Insp Mark Long, who is leading the investigation said: “Both incidents are not considered to be related and as with any firearm related crime in Bradford they are being treated extremely seriously and I would appeal for anyone with information to come forward.”
