Signs of spring
Spring was in the air yesterday as blue skies and bright sunshine greeted visitors to historic Brodsworth Hall in South Yorkshire.
And whatever the arguments about the precise date for the first day of spring – some argue for March 1, others for March 20/21 – the snowdrops show it cannot be far away.
The hall, a few miles from Doncaster, is one of the most complete surviving examples of a Victorian country house in England. It remains virtually unchanged since the 1860s and was designed by Italian architect Chevalier Casentini.
