Sister of war hero denies careless driving

A WOMAN has denied causing the death of her sister by careless driving.

Rosie-Ann Stone, 20, appeared at Bridlington Magistrates to answer the charge which relates to the death of her sister, Jennie.

Jennie, 28, died in February when her car hit a tree in Fraisthorpe, East Yorkshire.

Rosie-Ann was driving a different car at the time.

Her death came just months after her family had to cope with the death of her brother, Gregg, who was killed while serving with the Army in Afghanistan.

Private Stone, 20, of the 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, was shot dead as he took part in a mission to rescue an Afghan policeman in Helmand Province on June 3 last year.

Rosie-Ann Stone, of Scholars Way, Bridlington, was bailed to appear before a judge at Hull Crown Court on September 5.

The Crown Prosecution Service has said the prosecution is in the public interest, after the family described it as an “absolute travesty”.
