Sniper apologisesto surviving victim

A man shot by Washington sniper Lee Malvo in 2002 has received a letter of apology from the gunman.

John Gaeta, 58, from Louisiana, said: “I’m glad he wrote the letter. I do wonder, though, if he’s truly sorry or if this is a part of him trying to get his sentence reduced.”

Mr Gaeta was shot in the neck in 2002, in Louisiana, as he tried to change a tyre at the start of a spree by Malvo and John Muhammad that left 10 dead.
