Sole of the century

The world's largest trainer – a UK size 454 – built in support of Cancer Research UK's Race for Life, made its mark at the Clifton Moor Centre, York, yesterday.

The colossal trainer, which took three months and 840 man hours to build, will be touring the UK under the Tesco banner as part of the retailer's national fundraising initiative .
