Souvenir calendars feature sepia images of ages past

Historic images of three of Yorkshire’s most picturesque coastal towns feature in a new range of souvenir calendars.

Most of the sepia-tinted pictures, showing how Scarborough, Whitby and Filey once looked, have been reproduced for the first time.

The Scarborough calendar includes pictures of Thomas Warwick’s Revolving Tower, the Floral Hall and the Seawater Baths, while Whitby’s version shows a festival procession from 1897 and the unveiling of Caedmon Cross in 1898.

Filey’s calendar shows early aviation and motor trials, as well as a picture of the Blakemore cargo ship running aground on the sands in the 1920s.

The calendars are on sale at tourist information centres.
