This touring production, starring “uncanny lookalikes” Neil Bromley (Laurel) and Simon Lloyd (Hardy), navigates the highs and lows of their film careers: from schoolboy Stan Laurel’s first attempt at stand-up comedy in a Glasgow variety theatre to the disastrous French/Italian movie Atoll K, one of the last films they made together.

During their trailblazing comedy careers, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy appeared in more than 100 films.

The combination was “engineered” by a canny film producer – just one of the surprising facts which emerge from Tom McGrath’s play.

The play begins in a limbo-like waiting room where the pair, now dead, spend their time in nostalgic banter about the old days.
