Spring treat for garden lovers as couple open their gate for charity

SPRING flowers will be on show this weekend at the home of a Sheffield couple who regularly open their garden to raise money for charity.

Christine and Keith Littlewood are hosting an open weekend at their garden on Meadow Head Avenue in aid of the Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia.

The garden will be open from 1pm to 5pm tomorrow and Sunday, April 18, with home-made refreshments and stalls selling books, cards and plants.

Mrs Littlewood, 67, said: "We host three open weekends in our garden every year for various charities, to give something back to the community.

"This year, one of the charities we have chosen is PACT. The charity is a fantastic cause that benefits a lot of young people at The Children's Hospital, so we're really hoping to raise a substantial amount on the day."

In 2009, the couple won second prize in Garden News magazine's "Garden of the Year" awards. Their home is also listed in the National Garden Scheme's Yellow Book.

Beryl Welburn of PACT, said: "Christine and Keith have supported PACT many times before through their fundraising and we are enormously grateful for their help."

Entry to the garden at Fernleigh, 9 Meadow Head Avenue is 2 for adults.
