Still time to get in running for coveted honour

Entries are still being accepted online throughout today and tomorrow across 11 categories recognising everything from grassroots community projects and environmental startups to the best green product manufacturers and eco-building developments.

Judging will be carried out next week by a panel including leading environmental scientist and first Green Champion award-winner Lynne Frostick.

She will be joined by representatives from the Yorkshire Post and awards sponsors Yorkshire Water, Asda, Bond Dickinson, Banks Group and Northern Gas Networks.

A shortlist of nominees will be announced on Saturday, May 18 and the winners will be presented with their prizes at a glittering dinner and presentation ceremony on Wednesday, June 12.

Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey will be the headline speaker at the event, at the Queens Hotel in Leeds.

Prizes to be presented include the ultimate accolade of Environmental Business of the Year as well as ones for the manufacturer of the best green product; the most eco-conscious school.

There are also awards recognising innovative environmental technologies, imaginative approaches to tackling and adapting to climate change; and work to preserve and protect the countryside. All winners will receive a trophy and be featured in a special supplement in the Yorkshire Post.
