Student finds work experience with a difference in far east

China is not only becoming an increasing market for Yorkshireuniversities but also for graduates looking to boost their CVs with international work experience.

After finishing university Angelee Patel, 22, from Leeds, secured a place working for one of the country's biggest law firms this summer on a month-long internship.

Her placement was organised through the CRCC Asia company which is catering to students looking to work in the world's fastest growing economy.

She said: "I think throughout my education I have lived up to the generic way of going to school, going to university and taking the somewhat standard route of building my portfolio for a future career.

"China added something different, it gave me that unique quality which will enhance my CV and, hopefully, land me my dream job in commercial international law."

After returning to Yorkshire she is now preparing to study a legal practice course in Manchester before going on to look for work.

"I think you gain such a breadth of experience from interning in China much more than just the work itself. is fascinating, the modern mix of business practice alongside the traditional hutongs and the many temples that attract worshippers from all backgrounds. The exposure to the international legal market place was fantastic, one day I would working on US law and the next I would be conducting legal research on Australian land production; everyday was a new experience."

She told the Yorkshire Post she would recommend the experience to any graduate looking to enhance their CV and would love to return to work in China for a fixed period.

CRCC Asia's director Daniel Nivern said: "The exchange of talent is a two-way process.

"Immersed in the fastest growing economy in the world, the interns get to perform more senior tasks than is normally be the case back home."
