Students urged to ‘give it a go’ and join new generation of theatregoers

Hull Truck Theatre is trying to build a new generation of theatre-goers with a new scheme called Give It a Go.

The theatre has unveiled the project – which offers young people the chance to become a member for £15 each – allowing them see three productions in six months.

The scheme is a spin-off from the Arts Council England-funded A Night Less Ordinary (ANLO) initiative, which for the last two years had offered free theatre tickets to the under-26s.

This proved a huge success, attracting almost 5,500 local members.

Head of marketing and communications Angela Stone said: “We had a fantastic response to the ANLO scheme, with thousands of young people enjoying live theatre, many for the first time.

“We want to build on that momentum and so have set up the Give It a Go scheme which we hope will encourage our previous ANLO members, and many new, to enjoy our work.

“With a hugely diverse programme, we now have lots to offer, including cutting-edge theatre from the best UK companies,” she added.
