Suits ewe, sir

Some of the cheapest wool suits in the country were on show alongside some of the most expensive yesterday.

Turf was laid in Savile Row, London, headquarters of bespoke tailoring, for visiting sheep to graze on, while the shops ran presentations for visitors on the importance of British wool to their work.

The displays included suits made from a new West of England tweed – a blend using native Exmoor Horn wool as well as the ubiquitous merino.

A flock of Exmoor Horns from Wiltshire was on the guest list. Savile Row Field Day was the opening event of Wool Week, organised by the Campaign for Wool, which was launched by the Prince of Wales earlier this year.
