Take the stairs for heart charity

FIT fundraisers are preparing to embark on a stair-running challenge at the 255-feet Arts Tower at Sheffield University.

The building was the tallest in Sheffield until the St Paul’s Tower apartment block near the Peace Gardens was completed in 2010.

Fundraisers will run up and down the 20 floors of the tower on Saturday, February 25 in aid of the British Heart Foundation’s “Red for Heart” campaign.

Those taking part include retired football referee Uriah Rennie, who is also preseident of Hallam FC.

He said: “This kind of sport grabs the imagination and the Arts Tower really has the wow factor.”

Organiser Stuart Heslington, 39, said: “The reason I wanted to do this for the BHF is because when I was 15 my Dad died of a heart attack and if I can stop another 15-year-old going through that, then I’ll do all I can.”

More than 200 people are expected to take part in the challenge, from committed athletes to local supporters.

All runners must sign up individually but can participate as a group.
