Take Valentine's message to heart

HEALTH workers will be using the traditional St Valentine's Day message next week in a bid to help people avoid the problems of heart disease.

Displays of books and other materials on the theme of heart health will be on show at libraries across Barnsley, while local health trainers from the NHS will be offering free blood pressure and healthy heart checks to those who are borrowing books.

The health trainers will be giving blood pressure and body mass index checks at Barnsley Central Library, on Shambles Street, on Tuesday next week between 10am and 3pm.

They will also be helping the public to use computer-based NHS Lifestyle Checks.

More traditional St Valentine-themed activities are also planned including a three for two offer on DVD and CD loans throughout the month with a range of romantic films and music.
