Tales of incredible journeys from across the world...to Harrogate

Ancient artefacts have travelled down through the ages and across the world.

But now visitors to the Royal Pump Room Museum, in Harrogate, can get an eyeful in the heart of North Yorkshire.

The museum is launching a new exhibition showcasing the distance some of its most historic artefacts have travelled to end up in the spa town.

The dazzling collection – donated to the museum by individuals and collectors – has come from across the world and dates as far back as 1000 BC.

The exhibitions and collections assistant at the museum, Nicola Dyke, said: "We have objects in the collection ranging from ancient Greece to Africa to China.

"There is a black mummy mask from Egypt in around 330 BC, an ancient jug from Cyprus, it's a very impressive collection.

"It's amazing to think just how far all of this stuff has travelled to end up in Harrogate."
