Tango man’s brewed awakening

HE’S known to many as the star of the “Tango” drinks adverts – but now Peter Geeves is embracing the stronger stuff by setting up his own microbrewery in Barnsley.

Former actor Mr Geeves is best known for playing the orange man in the 1992 commercial which spawned the catchphrase “You know when you’ve been Tango’d”, but he has also appeared in programmes including Bottom and Birds of a Feather.

Now he and his son Harry Geeves have together opened Geeves Brewery in Stairfoot.

Mr Geeves said: “The Tango advert seems to have captured the public’s imagination.

“As a former actor, starting the brewery is a big departure in one sense, but I do feel there are similarities in any creative process.”

The pair’s beer “Tunnel Mouth” was named champion beer at Mexborough Imperial Club and Brewery’s New Breweries Festival in December last year.
