Taxi driver in Campbell row says he overreacted

The New York City driver who accused supermodel Naomi Campbell of assaulting him from the back seat of a luxury 4x4 now says he "got angry and over-reacted" and regrets involving the police.

Driver Miodrag Mejdina said through his lawyer last night that the incident was “blown out of proportion” and he wanted to apologise to Campbell “for causing that to happen”. He will not press charges.

Mr Mejdina had told police that Campbell hit him from behind and his head went into the steering wheel of the black Cadillac Escalade.

Campbell has faced a series of lawsuits and criminal cases accusing her of attacking household employees and two police officers at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Campbell later issued a statement, saying she worked hard on correcting previous wrongdoings, tried to treat everyone with respect and was pleased the driver had apologised.
