Teacher meetings 'rare'

A STUDY of parent-teacher relationships in Yorkshire reveals that both parties want to be able to communicate more in less formal settings.

The YouGov research reveals that half the parents questioned spoke to their child's teacher once a term – primarily at a parents' evening or through notes passed on by children or by letter.

However more than half of the teachers questioned and more than two-thirds of parents polled said they would welcome more contact by email while more than a quarter of parents wanted to be able to text or correspond with their children's teachers through social networking sites on the internet.
