Team aims to cut car plate thefts

MOTORISTS in Kirklees are being urged to take advantage of an initiative which will prevent them from becoming victims of registration plate theft.

West Yorkshire Police and the Neighbourhood Watch Association for North Kirklees are fitting anti-theft screws to vehicle number plates free of charge in the area. It is 25 years since Neighbourhood Watch Groups were first set up in the country.

To celebrate that move, members will be help crime reduction officers fit the security screws.

West Yorkshire Police said last night the registration plate service will be available on both days between 10am and 2pm.
