Teenage boy killed in collision with lorry

A 17-year-old boy has been killed by a lorry near Rotherham.

Thomas Playforth is believed to have run into Muglet Lane, in Maltby, when the accident happened.

South Yorkshire Police said Mr Playforth, from Maltby, was fatally injured.

A spokeswoman said the lorry, driven by a 44-year-old man from South Milford, North Yorkshire, was travelling towards Blyth Road and was opposite the junction with Mallard Lane when the accident happened at around 9.20pm on Friday.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information about the movements of the vehicle or Mr Playforth before the crash to come forward.
